Lysmata amboinensis (Tag. L) Coming from the Indo-Pacific and commonly called simply cleaner shrimp, it is yellow overall with a bright red band along its back. Running through the center of the red band is a more conspicuous and thinner white band. This shrimp's front legs and long wavy antennae are also bright white. There is also an almost identical-looking species from the Atlantic Ocean: the Lysmata grabhami. Lysmata amboinensis is much more likely to be encountered in the store and the care needs are virtually the same for both. Based on the personal experience and reports of many other marine aquarists, Lysmata amboinensis is the best of the three listed here when it comes to cleaning its tank mates.
